Commercial studio rental operates on extractive pricing that prices out independent and LGBTQ+ artists — the same dynamic that has driven LGBTQ+ bars down 45% since 2002. WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) On-the-Job Training programs reimburse employers 50% of new hire wages for up to 6 months — WanderStudios can train audio engineers, camera operators, and production staff with federal wage reimbursement, making W2 employment viable from day one. New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) financing is applicable to Silver Spring's census tract, potentially providing $1.5-3M in below-market financing for a permanent space. HAVEN safe-space certification is low-cost (approximately $2,500) and provides auditable community safety standards. An MOU with local emergency management for FEMA staging eligibility costs nothing and unlocks BRIC (Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities) grant access — BRIC awarded up to $20M per project with a July 23, 2026 deadline. Worker cooperative ownership with land trust model means the space stays community-owned and cannot be sold out from under the community.

Hand-assembled

Built by supported employment workers — people with intellectual disabilities, autism, and physical disabilities — through WWP's fulfillment program. Every product ships with a Built By card. Competitive wage, never 14(c) subminimum.

Repair & refurb

Send it back. Prepaid label. Component-level repair, module upgrades, firmware updates. 7-year spare parts guarantee. Donate on return — refurbished hardware goes to shelter and community partners. GPL firmware: the device works even if WanderVerse shuts down.

No hardware subscription — ever

BMW charged $18/mo for heated seats already in your car. GM locked remote start. Eero charges for VPN on hardware that could run it free. We don't do that. You bought it, you own it — every feature works forever, no subscription required. WanderAssist ($9/mo optional) is a convenience layer, never a gate. Safety features are never paywalled.

Pro & Lux tiers — coming

Every WanderVerse hardware product will offer Pro and Lux finish tiers — premium materials and handcrafted finishes by WanderVerse Artisans: supported employment workers with artistic skills. Each Lux unit ships with a Finished By card. Lux revenue cross-subsidizes nonprofit pricing.
